Also, nice landscaping job, Shug! I wish my front yard looked like that. Particularly now when I'm having to go out and mow during a 100+ heat index.

Thanks. It was a hard, fun, sweaty, back-breaking, satisfying project.

As to Dixie (to stay on topic) You Tube ends up becoming a full time ot part time job if one is committed to put up videos and not quit after a few months because one did not get 1000 subscribers right away.
I admire her spunk. And she can hike!!!!

Not setting up your sleep system a few times before going on a trip, is asking for trouble. Especially when you're rolling into camp in the dark. I dont think people realise that there is actually some tweeking involved with hammocking that needs getting used to before making a decision if its for you or not.

Asking for trouble, perhaps. But Dixie is a capable person and knows how to improvise if need be. So I’d say it depends on the person as to how methodically they should approach backpacking with a hammock. Also, she wasn’t alone, which greatly reduces most risks.

I would love to see you take that contrail on a trip. I’m sure you would have some excellent advice and insight for ground dwellers as well!

Well I am 63 and totally new at hammocking. There is a ton of info out there, some spot on and some not so. The problem is you don’t know what you don’t know. But in every endeavor whether a job, hobby, marriage, raising a family etc... there is a learning curve. The problem is that sometimes when we have time, experience and what we might consider success under our belts we forget where we came from and become arrogant and critical of those who somehow were not born omniscient like we seem to think we were. Success should come with some empathy and humility not a critical spirit and demeaning those who have not met our own self measured successes.

for those that didn't watch it she said she slept better in the hammock than she does in her tent.

I enjoy her channel. She just makes bad decisions sometimes: she went to Auburn and she took that dude on the hike instead of me!

She made me really nervous with how close her blanket was to her stove.

Otherwise, another good video from Dixie. Yeah she had some issues with her setup, but she was happy with the results in the end, isn’t that what it’s all about?
