PG, good information. Camp 7 was enticing, but I was looking at how we can make Friday and Sunday reasonably short mileage hence hanging somewhere around 2-3 miles from Jumping Off Trailhead.

I'm thinking we'll all take care of our own meals and cooking, unless someone joining us doesn't have there own equipment. For example, I have a friend planning to come with whom I'll share my stove.

I'm looking forward to getting back out there in a few weeks.

I'm thinking about my menu.. are we going to be building a fire friday night?
I might have to pick up some more quails (extras if anyone wants some).

The locations I considered aren't designated sites, so if we do choose to build a fire, we'll want to keep it small so we can "leave no trace" when we are done. The first location is near the creek, so getting water to douse the flames shouldn't be an issue.

Shaw, I did not think about long hike back from camp 7! I was thinking about having water source real close to each breakfast—coffee breakfast of champions. By camping at a creek, I can keep my fat pack weight within range of my out to lunch capabilities...Lol
Star I’ll spectate and watch quail grilling. I might bring regular food to cook on Friday night and Saturday morning. Rest of meals will probably be lighter and easier and less likely to spoil!
Shaw, I’m gettin stoked and gotta apply permethrin to some clothes and socks.
This is gonna be an adventure!

Good call on the permethrin, the weather is starting to warm up which usually means biting insects. I'm debating between getting some permethrin or just use picaridin as needed.

I've been using picaridin in place of deet because it is less/non damaging to plastics which is what most backpacking gear is made of. It also doesn't have that awful smell and seems to be just as effective.
While permethrin has its pros, it is a bit more expensive and sometimes I don't prep ahead of time for trip to apply it. However, I'll probably apply to my hammocks in the peak of the season.
Anyone hear ever try diluting the farm grade permethrin? I understand it is cheaper to get than the pre-diluted product from Sawyer and others. I've also noticed the obligatory warning on the bottles that it shouldn't be used on people.

Mr Tom_tom, you speak talk funny. I liked dat. You-in-s must be from my ankle of the woods.

Just fun’n ya, but seriously. When you dilute and soak like that, who many washes are the garments good for until you have to soak again?
