Finally starting to see some cold nights, and we might even get snow this weekend ... here's hoping it sticks around for a bit!

So which one of you ordered the inch of rain this weekend? Can we trade that for an inch of snow instead?

Honestly, I was dreading a cold weather hang. My face just can't handle cold weather. After a couple of days in the cold, I always go home and have a massive outbreak of herpes on the lips, sometimes the nostrils too. I keep trying different things (Dermatone is the latest) but nothing seems to keep my skin protected from the ravages of cold weather.

    Thanks for sharing!

The forecast has changed quite a bit. I would not normally drive two hours to spend a day in the rain, but one of the sites is in my name. I've got a 16' Kelty tarp that could be useful in the rain, but nothing to rig it with right now.

Not to discourage anyone from coming in any way, however while the folks at the office would prefer that everyone pick up their permits, you don't HAVE to. The site(s) are reserved, effectively booking out the campground for our group - which is the reason we grab all the sites anyway - and they got their money.

It's also possible to transfer the primary occupant to someone else, if you can't make it but want to pass the site on to someone else.

In general, while the preference is that if you book a site, you would go to the office and pick up your permit and site tag, we've also been told by the office that if you print a copy of your site registration confirmation (the email they send you when you book the site) and have that on hand, that should suffice, especially if you can't make it to the office prior to when they close (4pm) on the day you arrive.

I personally think they just want you to show up so that they can give you the rules, fire regs, etc. In the end the park police have a list of which sites are booked, and the name of the primary occupant from the booking (I've seen them reference it in the past), so it's not like they don't know what's going on.

I am happy to transfer my reservation, but it sounds like I don't need to in order for everything to work out, whether I decide to go or not. I haven't been to Batona when the forecast called for rain all day. Do folks stay under their individual tarps, or do we set up a group area?
