    Top insulation is a nice-to-have

But unless you're in the Arctic circle, you really don't need it. Just wrap that freaking UQ around above you and clamp it with some battery clamps. You just saved some significant weight and you Maned- Up in the process!

Don't get down on yourself, Noob. We were all there. Rule of thumb: Pack for your mission, then un-*** 2/3 of that junk. Even then you'll be overpacked. I ran sniper assist with a Navajo in the Rangers, and he would sleep in snow with just a windbreaker on. That's it! Mind over matter, son - mind over matter.

You're carrying a lot of extra weight that way. If you're alone, then why aren't you part of a team to begin with: Two to a hammock, and all you need is 1 underquilt for 2 teammates: Part of you will be cold, but as it gets too cold, just roll over and swap cold for not as cold. Not too much risk of frostbite for a real man, is there?

I'd rather be 1 to a hammock, covered in down quilts top, bottom and sides, but we all have different objectives so HYOH.

That was a tauntaun. I doubt Chewie would take too kindly to Luke slaying a wookie!

Kill a tauntaun instead. Poor Chewie, everybody wanna slice him open and hop in haha. I mean, without Chewie, who is going to mash the gas pedal on the spaceship when someone yells "PUNCH IT"
