Question 11' Warbonnet SF tarp doors, shock cord length for doors.

I ordered 25' of 3/32 shock cord from Dutch that came in today but I'm not sure at what length I should cut them down to, I plan on using a larks head on the tarp side and attaching a Dutch/Tato tarp door hook on the other end. If I could hang my tarp up this would be easy to find the length I need but I can't hang my tarp at the moment until I hit the woods next month, I'd like to already have my tarp ready by then. I will be keeping the doors mostly hooked and tucked inside the tarp and only using the doors during rain or when I need some privacy when changing clothes.

My question is for you folks using the 11' WBSP, what length of shock cord are you using for the doors?

Thank you all for help in advance.

Edit: I think I posted in the wrong section, I should have posted in the Weather Protection section I believe.

Once upon a time, somewhere, I read that 1.5 ft is a good length for the door shock cord. I believe that was to allow the doors to be pulled back and held that way by connecting the cords from each end of the tarp. If you fold your doors back, so the tarp is like a Hex, and measure the distance between the door ends, then divide by two and subtract a little bit more so the bungee will be stretched a bit, that will give you a good length to play with.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

That should work. I have about 36", with 20" loose every time. I just never think to cut it while I'm out.

A little extra doesn't hurt of course. I never had a cordlock slip, but if it did, that slack would keep it from completely detaching.

    Stopper knot never hurts.

I like the Ashley but a double overhand works nicely in shock cord.

Should the length be a total of 17" after cutting and tying the knots to hold the hardware, cause it will be shorter after tying my overhand knots to hold my mitten hook on one side and the loop to larks head to my tarp door tie out on the other?

I made mine long and just adjust it with a lineloc 3. Granted I use zline for about 90% of it with shock cord on the end to allow for constant tension. If left long, it allows you more options for your doors.

I decided to change my setup like how some folks have it on this forum, I now want to use shock cord locks! I'll recycle the pieces of shock cord I already cut and make some continuous loops to attach to my tarp tie out ends. When my mini cord locks come in I'll cut my new shock cord lengths down to probably 25" to 30".

I ordered the mini cord locks from Dutch, and a few other blingy things too!
