Any suggestions when patching a tarp?

Hi folks, I have the patch & silicone tarp repair kit from warbonnet to put over what looks like a couple of tiny mouse chew holes on one of their superfly tarps.

I guess the tarp needs to be cleaned at the spot & pulled tight before applying the patch.
Could anyone confirm that is the general way to go, or perhaps give a suggestion if you like.

    Appreciated as usual.
    Thanks all.

I would follow instructions on patch kit. Clean area with some alcohol and let dry and if it were me, I'd patch on both sides of the hole.
    Carry forth.

If its just a small area, Tenacious tape on both side is an easy and permanent fix. I would still clean it good with alcohol though.
