    zing it

Not real familiar with zing it. I am going to purchase a winter tarp...would zing it be okay to use on it with some of dutch's tarp flys?

    zing it

Should be fine. I’m pretty sure my Dutchware tarp line is Zing-It

(Edit) I just looked on Dutch’s site, and that’s what it is. His tarp continuous ridge line is made with Zing-It, a Dutch hook on one end, and a wasp on the other end. Mine has the soft shackles to connect to the tarp. I love it because I can hang the tarp and then slide the soft shackles back and forth along the line to get the tarp in just the right spot.

Second what Hanging Grizzly said. I’ve been using Dutch's Continuous Ridgeline for two seasons now. It’s quick and simple to set up. I attached my 12 foot Hammock Gear Winter Tarp to the soft shackles with mini-biners and the entire rig fits in a Hammock Gear snakeskin.

in case you didn't realize you can by pass the Mini Biners and just use the soft shackles, they open up and you can put the soft shackles through the D rings

This. I was also using mini biners until I realized this.

I have the original tarp flyz and zing-it on my tarps from 2012. No sign of wear other than the yellow coloring fades. I switched to gray for other uses, but no need to swap out the ridge line since it's in good shape. Light weight, strong, easy to adjust. Not the cheapest option, but when you consider all the benefits it's worth it for all 4 of my tarps.

Another vote for zingit. Ive used it for all of my continuous ridgelines. A dutch hook and a dutch fly or wasp and you are in business. A couple of soft shackles on the ridgeline, either a five wrap prussik or a kleimheist, and you'll get full adjustability for tarp positioning.

I feel really silly, but this is first I've heard of soft shackles? What are they? Do they come with my tarp or do I order them seperately?

I know I was out of the loop on those for years! At least it's not abbreviated like everything else around here. But I guess googling SS won't quite get you the right thing.

That is one great way to do it.

    There are others.

It's basically a shackle made of rope. Can be used like a continuous loop. It's a good biner replacement. Once you get it looped onto your ridgeline, it can be opened and closed to "hot swap" things if needed.

You'll have to learn to splice if you want to make some. The 7/64 is easy to do, but when you start making them out of zingit it gets tricky. Many folks sell them as well.

EVO Loops have kind of replaced the need for soft shackles for me, but the SS I made years ago are still holding up.
