I did the same as others above. Removed the suspension, removed the continuous loop, removed the apex buckle, leaving just the two long dog ones. Instead of the Dutch beetle buckles, I put the ends of the dog bone loops over Dutch cinch bugs, because that’s what I had.

I don’t recommend this. The cinch bugs are a lot smaller than the beetle buckles. I’m a little worried that the Amstel will get worn going around the smaller diameter cinch bug “horns”. Has worked without problems for 20 nights. Will likely replace. Cinch bugs attached to black and white Dutch spider straps with Titanium Dutch clips at the tree end.

My plan is to mess around with my suspension and sleep in the yard this weekend. We'll see how it goes.

The Beetle buckles worked beautifully. I guess I found my suspension. Thanks for the advice. I don't think I would've considered them without it.

I didn't take one, unfortunately. But then I guess that just means I have to sleep out this weekend!

How did you guys remove the apex buckles? I can't see how to do it without cutting something.

I'm not sure how best to describe it except to say I didn't cut anything. I was able to loosen each loop enough to slide over the hardware.

I wonder if my older RR is different. The buckles for the bridges are sewn into the hammock and the lines are spliced into the apex buckles. That's what I can't figure out. It looks like I would have to put the entire hammock through the spliced eyes on the apex buckles.

I'm out and about at the moment but can post a couple of pics when I get home, if it'll help. Any pics you can post?

Here are a couple of pics of my Ridgerunner buckles. I loosened the loop connecting the buckles to the dogbone hardware first and looped that over itself to remove. Then loosened the dogbones and flipped their loops over the remaining hardware piece to free everything up.
