    What is this knot?

What is this simple knot called? I have a hammock that has a fixed structural ridgeline made of paracord that uses this simple knot. At first, I was very skeptical, but it has held up well, so I have been using it in other non-critical areas. Since paracord is grippy, the knot seems to hold very well with that. So does it have name?

You may want to replace the slipped overhand knot with a bowline or midshipman's hitch. http://animatedknots.com

If using UHMWPE, I would, but I've seen how well this works with paracord. So I'm going to be using it from now on with all paracord - 550, 275, and 90 - that I use. At least until I see I'm wrong.

Just so you know, They don't call that a "slip knot" for nothing. The Bowline and Midshipman's Hitch will be much more dependable but HYOH.

    Knots are your personal choice
I choose knots that hold and do not slip, also I like knots that do not jam and are easy to untie.
I try to use simple knots that are easy to tie or even better only have to be tied one time, hold without slipping, do not jam, and can be untied or removed easily.

It’s fun to tie knots that are new to you...
    Good luck

All good reasons why the Bowline is my favorite knot, but, for specific things, like a hammock ridgeline, tarp tie-outs, etc., I'll be using this little fellow.
