Yeah, I know. Zing-It and Amsteel are what I have always used, and for the same reasons. Then I got a hammock that has a fixed ridgeline of paracord, and I learned that it is perfectly fine for that purpose. Unlike UHMWPE, with paracord knots do not easily slip, plus, also unlike UHMWPE, you can terminate a cut with a lighter, and I love that. As for splicing, I'll do it when I have to but will avoid it like the plague when I can.
