Toronto: carbon fibre spreader bars for Ridgerunner

A set of Carbon fibre spreader bars for the Ridgerunner bridge hammock, made by Ruta Locura.

Had these made two years ago. 182 grams. Used about ten nights total. Like new, no scratches or nicks. Foot-end bar pieces nest inside head-end pieces, so total length packed is about 22 inches.

    Why am I selling?

    1) I prefer to sleep in the Ridgerunner with the middle 4-inch section of the head spreader bar removed. When I had these made, I passed incorrect information to Josh, so I ended up with a three-part head end bar alright, but one in which the two outside pieces won’t work by themselves without the middle part. D’oh! So I can’t get the deeper sag I like. [not his fault, totally on me; his work is outstanding].

    2) I’m doing more canoeing and less backpacking, so the weight savings is no longer important. Might as well move these along.

I’d prefer to sell these locally in the Greater Toronto Area. You can pick up at Finch station or at Bayview-Eglinton, or I can meet you anywhere on the subway. Pain in the butt to mail, but I will consider it if you pay. [I won’t ship to the States. Trust me, my American cousins, the crazy shipping costs from here are such that you are better off ordering from Josh directly.]

I paid USD $107 shipping included = CAD $142. I will sell for CAD $100.

Pics: disassembled. Top two parts are foot end. Bottom three are head end. Different diameters.

    Assembled for travel:

As I said above, I’m looking to sell to someone who can pick them up locally. However, I will check out mailing costs just to find out what they are, and if I get no local bites after a few days, I may change the parameters of my sale, if that is permitted in this forum.

After further research, I've decided I would be able to get by with head- and foot-end spreaders in the smaller 600 diameter, saving some weight. I only weigh 130 lbs. So...next!

Are these strong enough to cope with a 190lb hanger?

The short answer would be yes, but I’ll refer you to this thread where you can see the evolution of the bars, which have been improved from the originals in 2013, in terms of safety:

BTW I am 160. Never had the slightest feeling that they would break.
