Thread: .93 membrane ?

    .93 membrane ?

Ok guys those of you with tarps made with .93 membrane silpoly. How are they holding up? Going to start a new tarp project and thinking of using membrane in that expensive camo at rsbtr.

Works great, I use it third years, made several rectangle tarps, tried different reinforcement methods. The best is to glue the patch with silicone. I also use the method where I just incorporate the grosgrain into the hem in place where the pullout will be sewn. I definitely do not sew the reinforcements, and I definitely do not sew on the tarp panel. Wanna see some pictures?

When you incorporate the grosgrain into the hem, do you go around the entire edge? Or just keep it near where the pullout will be sewn?

No, just at the place where the pullout will be. Maybe a litle bit more for additional strength. And once I seam seal the ridgeline with silicone, I put silicone also on the sewed line on the reinforcement area from outside and inside. I mean right on the seam to cover the holes from th needle, where the pullout generates strong stress.

Thanks! I am about to work on my first tarp, a silpoly (not membrane though). Planning on roll hemming the edges but adding grosgrain when I get 12” or so near the corners.

Yes, should be OK But put some silicone on the seams that go over the grosgrain for some more strength.

You guys are amazing!!! you convinced me on the membrane!!!! Nice pics by the way. I also intend on using gross grain rolled in to the hem for tie outs. Thanks again!!
