20 Degree Top Quilt with UP Insulation

I was commissioned to make a top quilt for my dad. I took advantage of Dutchware's DIY sale and ordered enough to make myself one as well. The price difference between climashield and the new UP insulation wasn't much so I decided to give the latter a try.

I finished the first one and it turned out great and Packs up ~30% smaller than my shorter 6oz Climashield

    Specs:
    20 degree rated
    55" wide with bottom 1/3 tapered to 40" X 78" long
    D-Rings for pad attachment
Dark olive Argon 90 outer, Black Ion inside
12 baffles with 2.5" loft about +10% over stuffed (18.5 oz of UP insulation. Approx ~625 FP down equivalent)
    Fully insulated sewn footbox
    Finished Weight 26oz

Looks great! Very respectable weight for a 20deg synthetic.

Nice work. How many hours did that take you?

So it was around 16hrs maybe, but at least 5hrs of that was scratching my head and tweaking the design as I went. The next one will go much faster.

Didn't take as long as I thought. I worked on Half day Saturday, a few hours Sunday morning, then Monday evening I stayed up till midnight to finish the shell and stuff it because I got excited. Tuesday all I had left was the snap and installing the shock cord for the neck.

I didn't mind the time it took, mostly it was just less time in front of the TV

It is very warm, I tried using it while watching a movie on the couch last night and promptly fell asleep only to wake up an hour later with a sudden desire to go outside and check on the coming snow storm.
