Costco throw UQ long enough for 6’1” person?

Hi – I am 6’1” and plan to turn one of my Costco throws into a UQ... thinking of using this as a plan... https://www.exploreserac.com/make-un...quilt-6-steps/

Are Costco throws long enough to make a UQ that would fit me?

I can’t wait for the hammock hang in Ocala in January... should be able to get lots of ideas.

I ripped seams the long ways and cut two strips off and added one to each end to lengthen the UQ and create a draft guard on the ends. The finished product would be about 80”X 50” in theory but more like 76”X 48” in reality. Plenty for someone 6’1”

They top out at 70”. However, you don’t always need head to toe coverage. Many people use a pillow at the head end and a sit pad or piece of foam in the footbox. This means you can get by with a quilt that is shorter than yourself.

Also note that the referenced project does not address the sewn through design which is the major weakness of these blankets. I would recommend either a layered design like the Gemini or sewing faux baffles. I would not personally take a single sewn through blanket below 55F in good summer conditions.

That's how I did them as well.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

I also made a 3./4 length Costco uq . I ended up cannibalizing and old down best for some additional fill. If you're going to do a top quilt. Just buy a one from anti gravity gear. They're 70 bucks and like a super nice Costco. I've had mine down to 45 w no problem.

I went last year and was very glad I took my 20 degree underquilt as the night temperatures went to the low 40s. Being my first Hangcon, I took everything. This year I'm planning to take only the 20 degree quilts. Better to be warm and vent than cold and sleepless.
