    Thank you all so much for your thoughtful answers. I like the idea of more insulation underneath and will look into the other materials mentioned and we'll figure something good out. Did I not mention that he must be claustrophobic or something because he's had a full covered dog house made for him, but he refuses to use it - he's obviously cold bc he's shivering and all, but he will not go inside it. That's why we're thinking just raise the sides up to help block some wind.
