Well I don't know what's going on here. Justin Timberlake said it was going to be May. It certainly won't feel like it!

Sounds like some more wet top quilt action to me. Never thought I would be "pushing" a 20° quilt set in May. But mainly dry weather, clear, sun, so I'm pretty pumped about this trip. We'll see what happens.

    Thursday
A slight chance of rain and snow showers before 9am. Widespread frost before 8am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 50. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

    Thursday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 23. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

    Friday
A chance of snow showers before 10am, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 10am and 11am, then a chance of rain showers after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 43. North wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

    Friday Night
A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23.

    Saturday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 45.

    Saturday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 25.

    Sunday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 51.

I've been showered with the tiniest frost bombs every time I did that. And it sucks being closed in when you 100% do not need bug protection. Still considering it for this trip though.

Okay. But for something to change something has to change.
Just my advise for why I never worry about the weather coming in and laying on my top quilts. With out it any dog and misfire has a wide open welcome mat to my top quilt. And I’d rather not have that feeling. Works for 3 of us here in NC to mitigate any moisture rolling in on us and we stay crispy dry. Can’t say the same for our Underquilt outside of that enclosure.

The pattern will create what is called a large closed low pressure area in the jet stream. Even though this is fairly common during the spring, the magnitude of the pattern coming up happens perhaps every 15 to 30 years this late in the season.

Of course I had to hit this just right. The weather is out to get me. But still, not complaining!

Good luck. Another idea to see what is going on is take some binder clips and clip your rain jacket to the foot area of your hammock. See if this prevents the atmosphere from settling on your foot box. If that stays dry you know what it is. Not you but the atmosphere.

It's just the weather. I did two nights (we skipped the last night) at 27° both nights. First day was sunny and 52° for a high and second day was 39° for a high. I was worried about that first night for sure but I was completely dry. No frost or dew on anything actually.

No, with temps that cold I just couldn't bring myself to do the net anyway. I had my 10.5' DIY HyperD hammock with Warbonnet Thunderfly hung at the usual height.

Same old story continues. Went to sleep at 10pm and woke up today at 2am and felt dry. Normal dampness around my chin from breathing. But then waking up for the day at 7am the TQ was soaking wet. As usual, water beading all along the stitching. Mostly stomach area down to foot on top only. 20°+1 quilt felt like a 40 at best by this point.

Next weekend I'll be in similar conditions if the weather holds, so I'm taking a small cotton bed sheet to put over me just to see what happens.
