It's all about Jim Morrison and "The Doors".. LOL...Seriously, once you have doors, there is no going back. The ladies also appreciate the extra privacy. Gram weenies may opt to sacrifice size for weight savings, but for the kind of outdoors use I see myself doing, the winter hammock suits me the best. Warbonnet's Superfly is not their number one sellling tarp by accident.

I'm on team No-Doors. I've never really needed them in all of my journeys. If i lived on the coast, it might be a different story, but i don't.

I use doors at one end if its storming and windy, rarely use both ends at the same time. But I have the doors available at both ends so that I can change it up if the wind does a 180 on me.

That's what I have as well. Mostly because the hex tarp was what I had made. Got the winter tarps for my wife and daughter for privacy reasons. Won a set of doors at a hang though and I LOVE them!! I honestly think I like them better than borrowing my wife's tarp in foul weather. You can use them on any tarp and use on one end but not the other or let someone borrow one set at a hang or whatever. I like the versatility.

Doors for me. Once I set up in high wind. The wind pushed the tarp into the hammock - and dropped water onto my shoes next to the hammock. When I reoriented the tarp parallel to the wind, not only did it stop pushing into the hammock, the tarp gained a "lift" characteristic that pulled it away from the hammock. Doors blocked the wind coming in parallel and all was fine. Plus, there is the additional privacy issue for those concerned.

The slight additional "penalty" in bulk and weight is worth it. IMHO
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

I thought I'd do the Griz-beaks but ended up making a set of doors but only for one side. I ran out of material. But so far, I've been really glad I can close the windward side.
