Pretty dependent on where you are and what you want.

I’ve gone on two thru hikes now without doors and was fine, but that was all hung ho lightweight power Thru kinda ****.

I still love that tarp, but I have an enormous sil poly winter tarp with doors that I’m enjoying playing with now because I don’t really care about weight any more.

Moral of the story - get doors, they’re fun

I vote doors. They're there when wanted, even just to block an unwanted or unpleasant breeze. They live folded back the rest of the time. Also I very much subscribe to being prepared, possibly too much so sometimes.

For the minimal added weight and bulk, doors are worth it for fall/winter/spring. If you're going to be in nicer weather, then no doors would be fine.

One of my most recent hangs was with my son's Scout troop at Raven Cliff Falls in GA. What we thought was an absolutely gorgeous day (highs in the 50's, expecting lows in the mid-30s), turned into a brutal windy night. Winds went from calm to 20 mph as soon as the sun started to set. I'm not a meteorologist, so I'm guessing that once the air started to cool off, it fell and just swept down the valley we were in... an uncomfortable learning experience for all of us and the main reason I asked about having doors.

Doors 4 eva! Same reasons as others. I can pull them back when not needed. When weather comes along, they are wonderful to have. The extra weight is not a consideration for me.

Interesting that only one person (Deadeye) voted for carrying a non-door tarp plus an add-on door (GrizzBeak). That's what I do too- works for me.

I can't stand doors, they drive me nuts but I do recognize that in really wind blown weather (like OneClick's video) they can almost become a necessity. Since I like bigger rectangular tarps like the JRB Universal or now Dutch's wide tarps with all the extra tie outs I can easily bend in doors without it having been designed with specific doors. Just another perspective.

Doors!!!! If you have them and don't need them they can easily be bungeed out of the way. If you don't have them you can't use them and trust me, at some point you're going to want them.
