Doors vs. No Doors

I'm looking to upgrade my current no-name tarp to something with better coverage - trying to decide between doors or not.

For those of you with both versions, what drives to you take the tarp with doors over the one without?

Yeah, you could look back at 7 years of posts by me saying "no doors is simple...nice when it's dry...less to deal with..." But my luck finally ran out. My weather forcefield ran out of fuel. I'm much more cautious now, usually taking the Thunderfly with "mini" doors at the very least.

I say, go with doors. 90% of the time I leave them tied back, BUT when you need them they are there.

Also, a tarp with doors can be shorter than one without. So the weight difference isn't quite as much as one would first estimate. And, a shorter tarp will give you more tight tree spaced options.

All of my tarps have doors. It's not that much weight or that big of a deal to tie them back if you don't need them, but nice to have when you do.

There's no arguing that.

I've ridden out many down-pours.
it's during the extremes when you find out the failure points of your setup.

It was in a storm like that video when I learned that if your ridge-line dips in the center, due to tightening it down into an arch, rain can run down your ridge-line and drip right onto your hammock, sometimes regardless of a water break, and soak all your gear while your in it and you maybe won't notice until everything is already soaked

It only took one rain storm with a skimpy tarp to realize I'm not a meteorologist, that site selection doesn't work for me, and I'd rather stay dry. Doors it is!
