1st Annual Derby City Winter Hang. Jan 10,11,12

We are going to have a winter hang in Jan. We have reserved our favorite site in Jefferson Memorial Forest. This site overlooks the city of Louisville and set in a stand of pines. This site we believe will hold 30 hammocks. We are having a truck load of firewood delivered to us on Friday. There is water at the campsite, which is a primitive site. No ELECTRIC. There are porter pots as well. Plenty of room for parking right next to it, so you can bring the kitchen sink. Food will be on your own, unless someone wants to bring something for the crowd.
    The site cost is 60.00
    Wood cost for rick 65.00
We have never had a problem with everyone pitching in to pay, which usually ends up being 5 dollars a head for the whole weekend. However we have ordered wood this time and that may bring it to 10 a head. So everyone come on out and spend the weekend in the cold crisp air with good friends and good food. Hopefully this can become a annual event along with our Fall and Spring hangs. When it gets closer i will have a gate code for everyone to get back to campsite as it is locked off at night. Hope to see a crowd
    Jim

    I'm in! Lets do it.
I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.

"I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful... because, in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience...." --Robert Traver

For those that don't know the area the GPS coordinates are 38 4.46' N x 85 45.67' W at 866ft above sea level.

From Fairdale take Mitchell Hill Road South in the roundabout. Make a left on Holsclaw Hill Rd. At the crest of the hill make a very sharp right into the park. The locked gate is on the far side of the parking lot. Group site 3 is within the large stand of pines on your left about 500 yards past the gate. The gravel road continues past GS3 but loops back around and comes back out the same way.

wont be able to do all 3 days no matter what in Jan, so weekend doesnt really matter to me. I will just change the calendar entry I have. It's probably best not to try an compete with any other large hangs, though.

It sucked about the Nov one, so I'd like to try and get one in soon. As someone else said, will depend on the temps.
    Thanks,
    Brad
