Dutch Clip-on Pull out - your experiience?

I bought these for a sil-nylon tarp that I have that has no side pull-outs. Looking at the pull-out, I see that the little clip retainers that hold the donut have sharp edges, and that worries me a bit. These have been out for a while, and I am wondering what others' experience has been with them? Are they tough on a tarp? Should they be left on, once installed, or removed and reinstalled with each use?

I've have them for about 3 years, have tried them several times and HATE to say it but my opinion is thumbs down.

I have a set. They work pretty well and haven't damaged my tarps that I can tell.

I have them and have used them for more room in under the tarp. I remove them when not in use, just because I'm OCD like that.

That's probably wise. I will, too.

I tried to use them for a while. They kind of worked, but I found them to be hard on the tarp. Also had one break for no reason. I wish they were a product I could have continued to use, but the poor functionality drove me to other options. I would skip them.

I had 2 of them break, whether their fault or mine I quit using for fear of holes in the tarp.

Somehow, I'm not feeling the love for this product. :-)
