    HG Journey tarp question

I've always had WB tarps and just received my first HG tarp. I picked up a Journey as a winter tarp for the wife. How does everyone go about seam sealing the Ridgeline? The pull-outs are no big deal but not exactly sure how to seal the ridge. Does anyone have any first hand experience with HG tarps?

The Journey specs show it ships pre-seam sealed on the HG website. Unless I missed something, you’re good to go.

I didn't notice that on the site. There was a small tube of included sealer which I assumed was for the pull-outs until I noticed a small piece of card stock that stated to seam seal the Ridgeline and pull-outs. Just wasn't sure how to go about sealing the Ridgeline as it appears its sewn folded over and you can't just seal the "under" side.

when I got a penny pincher tarp from UGQ and had to seam seal the ridgeline I just pitched the tarp upside down so I could seam seal the underside of it. I just ran a small bead of sealant down the ridgeline and used the foam brush to brush it on, after that one time I decided I was not ever going to order a tarp that I had to seam seal it myself ever again.

The Hammock Gear information card that likely came with your Journey tarp shows setting up the tarp upside down to seal the seams.

I sealed my pullouts today on my new Journey, layed out flat on the Living room floor. After 24 hours I will powder them. Seam sealing the ridge will need to wait for dryer weather. Regarding the ridge, I am operating on the "not required but recommended" language from the website.

My bad... I saw “free” seam sealer thinking it was a service rather than a tube of sealer for DIY. 😆 😆

I have the quest and I did not seam seal the ridgeline of it and I have had no issues with it. they must have forgot to send me the free seam seal kit when I ordered my quest (or they didn't offer it at the time) but either way the ridgeline don't leak on mine

I have a one year old Journey that I did not seam seal the ridgeline and have had no problems with many wet nights.
