Well, the new snow yesterday / last night has me really going about hammock camping in another week and a half. I am so ready to go hide in the woods, make bacon on the fire, laugh and enjoy the company. The only problem is I have to wait some more.

My food selection will be finalized this weekend. Doing some test cooking and recipe taste testing. The usual gear is coming, including the laser thermometer for the fireside oven, which I hope is coming with Dogger. Water pot, extra paper towel, utensils (long tongs and ladle), probably some other odds and ends.

I hope we have enough food....

Weather reports looking promising, although I will defer to those more experienced in weather prediction.... LOL

By the time I repack everything, again, this weekend I'll be ready to go in 10 minutes outside of packing the cooler and loading the car.

Hurry up and wait, the campers motto!!

I told Dave I'll try to refrain from looking. Forecasts have been useless all winter up until the day before, at best! Weather Channel already trending to the above freezing highs/warm low thing. I can't do another one of those trips. STOP LOOKING MARK!

I'm pretty much packed from last weekend...just need to reorganize and figure out food. Worked on seasoning my #5 cast iron skillet some more yesterday since it was a perfect match for my stove.

There's always plenty of food. I still don't know what I'm making and just may bring my stash of 2 lbs of hunters sausage, 2 lbs of bacon sausage and a 2 lb pork loin. Then just toss it in the cast iron camp skillet I'm bringing and call it good. I'll also have a loaf of that applesauce raisin bread.

On my last trip, I tried out one of those small bacon wrapped filets and it cooked up great on my tent stove in my small pan. Brandy is also going to be a new "staple".

Weather will be fine and I know Mark can't help himself, so I'm sure he'll dazzle us with his weather forecasting skills.

I hope Dan chimes in if he's coming because we need his monster coffee pot.

Here's something similar, if anyone has $80 burning a hole in their pocket: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Chilton-War...r/312961252239

Opps, re-read the spreadsheet and Dans monster perk will be in attendance. This weekend I'll start getting my gear organized and hopefully not have to add a 3rd caboose because I've got too much crap. Hoping to have a report next week on whether or not Hare Road will be an alternate access point.

5 inches new snow last night, I'm ready to go pulking around the yard just to get the feel of it.

About 18 inches on Gaylord snow stick, plenty for our GT adventure next week, plus a few more snow falls on the extended 10 day forecast.

Food list is coming together, some major food prep this coming weekend. Otherwise I could pack the truck and be gone in about 10 mins....

If you are thinking or planning on coming, please sign up on the DOC. Hate to run out of bacon or other consumables at GT. LOL

This week is going to really drag as my mind is already thinking camping almost non-stop when I try to relax.

Looking forward to seeing everyone next week, hope everyone has a safe trip to GT.

About 14" at camp...thankfully the snow isn't going anywhere this time! Watching these crazy temps though...will need to give it until this weekend before I pack and get a better idea.

I sent a text out yesterday: lowest temp ever recorded in all of MI...right at Green Timbers! Feb 9, 1934, -51°F!!

One more week til Green Timbers 2020!!

Becoming very difficult to not think about campfire, bacon, coffee, other food and drink every hour or so. Weather reports continue to look good for snow, not too cold, not too warm for mid February.

To anyone who's thinking about coming, please sign up on spreadsheet and post on this thread so we know to expect you. In particular, think about your group food contribution. Bacon always a winner! A small meal for 10 people or so to share, that way we can spread out the food prep and cooking across 2-3x people per meal. Water boiled from the river is drinkable, we have 2-3x pots always going. Usually a few cook pots and utensils around the fire. Paper towels, garbage bags (for non-burnables), paper bowls / plates. Everyone brings their own spork or equivalent, and a drinking mug, plus your own campfire seat.

Ask if you have any questions about location, the hike in (2 miles or so, not very difficult trail), plenty of trees for hammocks / tarps, or just about the whole weekend. Most of us have been to this gathering multiple times and survived with style!!

So if arriving and the lot is full, is it possible to pull a pulk from Pickeral Lake Campground to Green Timbers, or is it too rugged? Or maybe the road to it isn't even plowed and not an option? Just trying to avoid having to bum and coordinate a ride in and back to the local Pizza restaurant down the road.
