Has anyone tried this fabric for a hammock? Breathability is what I am concerned with, not weight holding ability.

RSBTR does not recommend either of these fabrics for hammocks. You want fabrics that breathe well for hammocks. Personally I wouldn't use either of these for a hammock.

On a cold windy day my hammock breathes too well sometimes. This material is stated to breathe well enough for a quilt (but not for both sides of the quilt) so I am wondering if anyone has any personal experience with this not working as a hammock fabric.

Good thought, I think it would work great as an UQP but I don’t enjoy carrying the extra weight.

Fabrics that are suitable for an uqp are not usually suitable as a hammock. I admittedly don't have any experience with mtn, but if you would consider it for an uqp, then the characteristics of that fabric might not be conducive to using as a hammock.

I did not like it, it was stiff and clammy/plastic feeling as a hammock.
I might even still have that around someplace...

I much preferred the M10 fabric for this type of hammock. There is a slight initial clamminess with M10 from the DWR when it's fresh. I find that fades within a dozen nights or so on average when used in a quilt.

So... I'd go M10 over the MTN for a hammock.

I just did a GE in 1.3 MTN and while it slept exceptionally comfortable it is indeed a bit stiff and plastic feeling. Almost like it was calendared. I'm going give it a bunch of nights in hopes it breaks in.

No experience with the lighter MTN fabric. Given my experience with the UL 1.0 Monolite fabrice (great.. until it wasn't), I am leaning towards safety and comfort in my hammock rather than pure UL. Standing over the decimated Monolite, pondering whether my next step was hike 14 miles back out or go to the ground, wasn't something I want to repeat. I've cleared enough weight off my pack list that adding 2-3 ounces of security in my hammock fabric is totally acceptable.
