    NS fit on a Blackbird?

Howdy all... I recently converted from a HH Exped to a Blackbird (still waiting on it ). I use the NS as an underquilt and was wondering if anyone can tell me how the fit is on the BB? Any tips? Thanks in advance... lookin' forward to an active hammocking season. Thanks in advance.

I don't have a NS, but my Nest works fine down to around 40 degrees or so.

I've got the NS's big brother, the Rocky Mtn Sniveler. Plus, three other JRB quilts. They all fit my Birds with no problems at all.

Great. Thanks for the help... Since I last checked the forums, I see a lot of folks have a Yeti.. Now I am thinking a Yeti with a pad for my feet is the way to go...seems to be a little less weight than the NS....the gear keeps evolving and I can't keep up!! OH well... nothing like new gear to keep the excitement going!

Yetis are just about all I use for underquilts. My JRB quilts serve as topquilts for me, but I couldn't help but try them as UQs. The Yetis are a great design, especially when looking to save a bit of weight.

So I was wondering.... Is it possible to use the Yeti and a JRB NS together as underquilts on those really cold hangs? I seem to recall the Shug the hammock celeb using multiple underquilts in one of his vids last year.

I did.... put my Winter Yeti and my DIY UQ end to end for full coverage. I have not stacked them ..... always wanted to try that though.

I have been out for 4 nights now in the BB, always using JRB UQs (MW4) and I have found that they don't work together all that well - at least compared to a plain old gathered hammock. the issue is either the footbox or my left shoulder is exposed. I have tinkered quite abit with the UQ suspension length and different lengths like shorter on the footbox and left shoulder side, did not see any improvement.

Keep in mind I have been in subfreezing temps each time. I have read that others have this issue and saw a simple mod adding some grossgrain loops to the BB at the crucial points, thinking of giving this a go.

Tips from JRB include not using the wings in the freezing and subfreezing temps, giving a better wrap. They also suggest doubling up quilts and, if one is longer, put the longer one net to hammock.

I have used a JRB Rag Mountain on my BB before and I too had a little trouble keeping it under both my feet and my left shoulder. So I bought a Speer Snugfit, and had the same problem. I had to add a few loops and some bungee to make it fit everywhere as good as they used to fit on my Claytors. But it was worth it. You can make it work just fine.
