Best way to efficiently stow DCF tarp in mesh snakeskin

I've got an HG DCF 12' tarp that I store in a single mesh snakeskin. When you roll it up you have a sort of round, irregularly shaped snake to stow away. Particularly when I put it away wet, I'd like to put it in the front mesh pocket of my pack, but it packs really irregularly, taking up a lot of space that I would like to reserve for other items (rain gear, etc) for easy access. You can still force the items in around the folds of the 'snake', but it's disorganized.

Anyone have a solution for storing this more efficiently? I could stuff the thing into a stuff sack, or perhaps tie it up with some shock cordage so it's more compact. I'm carefully rolling the DCF into the snakeskin and I want to be careful not to stress the DCF and shorten it's lifespan by how I carry it for an anticipated thru hike next spring.

    thanks

DCF is tougher than you think, Snakeskin, not so much, but cheap and an easy fix if it gets small holes. I did and do the same snakeskin and roll using end cordage to wrapped around the roll and keep it compact. I then worked it into the side of my ULA Ohm Pack and tightened those as well. Just for added sense of security, I hook the Dutch Stinger Clip of the Rolled Tarp to the Yellow strapping rope of the pack. Never had an issue on my 2018 Thru Hike or since.

I use a mesh snakeskin for my DCF tarps. I recently went on a trip and used my HG DCF winter palace tarp.. just rolled it up(in snakeskin) and put it in dcf stuff sack and packed it in the outside mesh pocket of my Kumo. I also had my rain gear (pants/jacket), my houdini wind shirt, my tp, my be free water filter maybe my first aid kit in the same mesh pocket.

Where do you get the DCF snakeskin? Does it come with the tarp? I'm buying the tarp next month and I definitely need a snakeskin.

I looked at mesh versus dcf for the snakeskin, while the dcf is tougher, when you are putting up a wet tarp the mesh deals with that better, so I bought mesh. Many tarp vendors also carry the snakeskins, I got an HG version as I had an HG tarp, figured it would fit it well, and it does. So far my mesh has held up well but I haven’t taken it on a thru hike.

Size of dcf stuff sack for tarp

Does anyone have an idea of the right volume (or brand model) of a dcf stuff sack for a rolled up 12 foot dcf tarp in mesh sleeve (as above)? It’s expensive to buy and test.
    Thanks

Great idea. we are on the road to doing AT in 2028 and there is A LOT of rain, so mesh will probably be better. Thanks!
