Ah I see, thanks. So in normal use it doesn't really matter, but its when there's an accident like sitting in it, or if underbrush or similar hits it.

I'm eye buying a 40'F to save pack volume (saving weight is an added bonus). The 10D doesn't appear to be ripstop, which concerns me if there's a tear it might get very big and lose a lot of down.

I doubt that ripstop makes a difference if the fabric is this thin and/or under stress. If a hammock made from ripstop nylon is damaged enough so that threads next to the damage start ripping because they have to carry too much weight, the rip won't be stopped by the ripstop grid. The 10D fabric I damaged was a ripstop. The thorn only slightly touched it, but left a substantial L-shaped rip. I have come in contact with thorns with 30D- and 40D-nylon storage bags, and had no damage.

I have a custom 20deg wookie with 15D ripstop inner and outer fabric. I find it durable enough and its very light weight. There is no real strain on a quilt coz it hangs only in contact with the hammock so the main worry imho is abrasion more than anything.
