It would probably be a good idea to call the park and check with the Superintendent. (Slowhike, do I recall that Marcie is back? Some years back she even joined HF so she could monitor this thread. She was very helpful.) Fullcount, the overflow parking area is right across the road from the Porta Potty, but that's the extent of the amenities. Check the weather. If we have ice or much snow, the last mile or so to the campground can be tricky, even though it is paved. The past few years it has been fine.
The Park is technically closed for the winter but because we are in such good standing with them we acquire a special permit to use the group campsite. The rest of the park is closed to us including the RV sites and they do not maintain the roads into the campground if they become covered in snow. Also the bathrooms are locked and that's why we rent a Port a John. The temps can swing wildly and wind can be brutal so be prepared for anything like water jugs freezing and tarp stakes flying out from wind.
This is a great hang to test winter gear and to learn much about winter hanging!!

Wow! With the new job and all I have forgot about the planning thread and how close it is getting!
I will get the official planning thread up and running Day after tomorrow, Saturday.
Talked to Hickery to be 100% sure on the dates and it will start Jan 23 (Thursday) for those that want to start early, through Sunday the 26th.

The park rangers allow us to use the group camping area at the beginning of the camp ground and spread out into the surrounding trees.
But as Deb said we are not to camp in the main campground area were all the individual sites are.
Hickery has already talked to Joe, one of the rangers that has been supplying firewood for both the Winter Hang and the Fall Festival Hang.
I think we pay him about $70 for the wood and he stacks it near the fire ring.
That money comes out of the raffle proceeds.
For several years now we have asked folks to not bring firewood from areas were the Emerald Ash Borer has been found. Safer to get the firewood local.
About the RV... no one has ever talked about bringing one so we will have to ask the rangers about that.
Water for drinking and cooking can be brought from home or containers filled and refilled at the ranger station which is on the way into the park.
Much more to come soon.
