    Smokies Nov 8-10

I have a trip planned to the Smokies this weekend and everyone in my crew has the flu and can’t make it. Will be starting at the tunnel at the end of Lakeshore Drive. If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll get you the details.

Just go by yourself. I hike the Smokies alone all the time, it is a magical experience.

One note of caution about parking. Do not park by the Tunnel to Nowhere. I have had three windows blown on my car parking there.

The rednecks from Bryson City love to go up there drinking a smashing windows. I was warned by the Rangers but had to learn for myself.

That's messed up. Someone needs to park a decoy, hide in the nearby woods wearing a ghillie suit, and take care of some business.

All that is needed is a camera at the parking area, even if it is fake. The Rangers really don't care. They told me I was "lucky" nothing was stolen. I told them it was pathetic a bunch of rednecks blew out my windows for absolutely no reason. They just laughed. They were all from Byson City.

Yeah, I usually park in the lot off of the Noland Creek trailhead and hike up to the tunnel. I can't blame them, there isn't much else to do in Bryson City. lol

FWIW, I've parked in that lot (end of the road) for multiple days and never had a problem.
