Grommets on Ridgerunner spindrift sock

Ooh, good info on the Scandinavian option. I knew it existed, but wasn't sure what temps it was meant for (other than below 0 presumably).

my spindy is the same and i find it doesn't matter. just thread through the fabric. The spindy doesn't bear weight so it won't rip. Obviously high winds will rip it, but you can mitigate that with tarps and site selection. If it rips, buy an improved model.

I had the grommets on a brand new Spindrift come off.
Brandon's answer to me was ..." just thread through the hole, grommets are not necessary. The offending Spindrift was my third and the ondy one I used that had an issue. I never used that Spindrift again, felt cheated.

On replacing the grommet...From my past experience a bit of extra fabric to support the grommet so there is support for the grommet to hold onto.

If I repair an area with a grommet and the fabric is light I reinforce the area. Just like I woukd with a snap. Extra fabric or Grosgrain Tape just a bit of something for support. put a grommet on a piece of tissue papoer and the grommet tears right off.

So I did end up replacing the grommets. I had an old kit my dad had given me, so I used those - 3/8" I think. There was some reinforcement around the holes, but I took IronFish's advice and sewed a piece of grosgrain onto each one. Extra reinforcement is never a bad idea! I'm going to take it out this weekend.

There had been one original grommet that was still partially attached, so I took a grommet comparison picture before removing it.
