    Tarp idea looking for feedback

Has anyone ever tried or thought of building a tarp with a beak on one end like the Thunderfly and a full door on the other?

I have been thinking about a Thunder or Mountainfly, but want a different material than offered by Warbonnet. So I started thinking about having a custom tarp built and it occurred that this idea might make a very versatile 4 season tarp.

Easier in and out of one side which can be positioned away from the wind with better protection and privacy on the other.

    Anyone see any drawbacks?

Only drawback would be a loss of symmetry on the tarp. Your other option could be to buy a hex tarp and a set of doors. Or buy a thunderfly and put a set of doors on one end. By the time you do that you could just buy a tarp with doors and pin one side back when not wanted.

Might be a great diy for you to document and share here.

What about just getting all-doors and pulling back one corner for better access? Then you have doors if you need them, but can roll away if you dont.

Not sure why I didn't think of pulling one door back. I do like how the beak doors of the Thunderfly pull away toward the tree. Seems like the full doors come more straight down.

I also worry about tripping on the guy lone staked into the ground versus guying the half door back to the tree.

For sure won't be DIY. Outside my skill set. Would most likely go to Jared at SLD.

Thanks to both of you for great input!

Not the same, but a twist on your idea that I find interesting:

I have a kitsapcowboy designed badlander tarp made by SLD that I'm really starting to like. Not sure if Jared still makes them though but he is great to work with.

I bought the tarp used on this forum but Jared has done a few custom jobs for me.
