Yes.. its a great spot. The area around the shelter is great for camping.. tents, tarps or hammocks. Plenty of spots to pitch and spread out too. And the hike.. it is pretty great.. another 2 - 3 weeks now and those colors should be popping again!!

some shots from my solo overnight trip in the Catskills last week. I parked at Barnum rd trail head and ride my bike to Peck rd trail head, then hiked over Windham High peak (3,524 ft), Burnt Knob (3,180 ft), Acra Point (3,100 ft).. Made camp for night near Batavia Kill.. Next morning continued thru Blackhead range..Blackhead mountain (3,940 ft), Black Dome Mountain ( 3,980 ft), Thomas Cole Mountain (3,940 ft), Camels Hump (3,520) and Caudal (3,320 ft).. Out to my car!! Great time, great trip. Slept for 12 hours in my hammock!!!

I posted a 12 minute video on my you tube channel, if you interested in viewing it .. Dirtbag hiker .. I couldn't figure out how to link it here though..

I'm in Ronkonkoma. Drive time varies.. Average 3 - 3.5 hours one way. Traffic??? 4 - 5 hours one way!

Beautiful pictures, thank you for sharing.

It might just be because I'm hungry and waiting on lunch but my favorite one of the bunch is that omelette. Eggwhites? Looks great! (the Catskills are pretty too. Almost making me miss Upstate.)
