Save some weight and make them from zing it. One big loop with 3 butterfly knots in it. No fabric needed. Techincally a figure 8 would work or double square...

I thought about that, but decided against. For me, going with TT's is because my rig has a non-removeable bugnet over a SRL and don't want to add any "wear point" tension on my bugnet pinched between the UQ tie up and SRL

On You Tube, Chesapeak Hammock and Outdoors has an excellent video entitled "How to keep you UQ where you want it.." He show how to devise a simple, inexpensive DIY alternative to the Triangle Thingies, using just shockcord and a mini biner or mitten hook. Its a very well done video. Also shows how to make a simple peak bag out of a small stuff sack.

Chesapeak if you see this, thank you for the info.

    Be safe.

That was the reason the guy that came up with these made them. Going straight to the ridge line is the best with non netted hammocks. Anything that pulls the UQ up instead of out works. Lots of solutions since those were thought up.

Still use something similar to that. Remove inner strands from paracord and use outer cover for something easier on the netting

I have a small loop of micro cord through the CL where it locks on the gather. I hook the primary to that. Then I have a prussik on my SRL with a small diamond knot evo loop. I pull the primary shock cords up to the ridge line and capture them with the evo loop. The prussik adjusts the amount of tension and allows for swapping from full to three quarter quilts.

Simple. Easy. Lite. No hardware needed.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

I made this kind of UQ suspension with ropes. Seems to work as the "Triangle thingies" but with an adjustable loop in it.

    That's interesting...
You have both the primary and secondary attached to the metal ring?

I would think the primary is sliding through the loop and each secondary are fixed to the loop and not sliding...

Yeah, but dont really know what you mean with primary and secondary. On the pics - the red and blue is connected throw the metal ring, but its not that important. Work fine without ring too, but if shock cord is fixed I would probably need an adjustable knot on the "hook side" too. A hook/s-biner make it easier to remove UQ from ridgeline.

Its just for lighten the system up. Earlier I had a whole lot of shock cord from every corner. Think it was at least 4 meters. Now thees two DIY thingies is my whole UQ suspension. Its lifting and tighting up the same time 🙂
