Go outside and find a couple of palm trees and enjoy the ocean breeze. You don't even have to leave the airport property, as part of the terminal is outdoors. Hawaii has very liberal homeless laws so you probably won't get disturbed if you're outside.

    Airport hanging

I’ve often wondered this myself. I was once stranded in Toronto and had to sleep on the terminal floor from midnight till the next flight at 7. Ever since that I always pack a hammock if I’m connecting “just in case”. It’s so quiet at night in the terminal that I’m sure no one would care if I hung in a corner somewhere. Bag under me and touching the hammock/me so no one could take it. Worst case is security tells you to pack it up. Better than a night on the floor.
At least the cleaners gave us a few plastic bags.

The idea to go outside in Hawaii is probably a good one too.

I don't think that would be a possibility, anywhere really. Every airport I've been in seems pretty open with no poles or anything to hang from. I recall the huge round supports, like 3' wide, along the main walkways, but spaced very far apart. Other than that just a bunch of chairs and kiosks by the loading area.

But I guess there's a few. Google search airport hammock and you get some creative ideas!

I bet you could rig it across 2 sets of those chairs. Might not give you a 30 degree angle but better than the floor! ha!

Just thought I would throw in a side thought. I always keep an ENO hammock with me when I'm traveling in my carry on. I was stranded in the Denver Airport during a blizzard one time, and it was miserable. There were people sleeping on the floor everywhere. I ended up sleeping on a wooden bench inside the little church because it was the only place I could find with heat. That airport had the canvas roof and it didn't hold heat in at all. At the time, I didn't have a hammock, but I thought about it a lot that night. Waking up in the morning with bruises all down my ribs and hip. It was the worst night of sleep but I wouldn't go and set up a hammock regularly in an airport unless it was really necessary.

The key here is, don't go and be a hooligan about it and you should be fine.

Seems pretty obvious this is overstepping the boundaries of normal behavior in a heavily trafficked building, owned and operated by government entities. Sleeping across multiple seats is rude during peak volume in busy airports. Attaching your own bed to the structures of the building is awfully presumptive, entitled behavior and is bound to attract the attention of the security personnel.

Not that I've done it but I think this is about the only case where using an air mattress/pad is preferable to a hammock...

    >Each other when it gets bad. Really bad.

We usually carry snacks, cliff bars, etc., to keep the urge down. But sometimes, when tensions are high ...
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.
