I, too, have used a sleeping bag liner for several years tent camping, either a microfiber/polyester one or fleece. Since switching to hammocks, I've used them a few times, but then made a fleece top quilt (basically, heavy fleece material with a lightweight ripstop nylon backing) to the same size/shape as my HG Econ Burrow. Cost me about $20 for materials and it's plenty warm for summer sleeping (60 degrees and up). I haven't yet tried that inside of my (20 degree) burrow, but probably will in the next month or two.
Honestly, I think fleece is the best way to go with a liner. Even in warm, muggy weather, it does a good job of wicking away some of the moisture, helping you feel cozy without being too hot. But, that's just my opinion.
