First backpacking trip for my daughter

I enjoy reading the trip reports when kids are involved especially daughters.
As a daughter who spent many hours and days with my dad exploring the outdoors - fishing, hiking, tagging along when he hunted and trapped with my grandfather, I can say it was the foundation of my love for the outdoors. I even introduced my husband to fishing on our honeymoon! Now I hike, kayak, camp, hammock and explore natural wonders. My dad has been gone many years, but those shared experiences will always be with me.
Parents, please continue to create outdoor experiences for your children.

That's awesome, and good for you for sparking the interest and getting the quality bonding time that comes with it. I introduced my wife to hammocking and backpacking and she loves it. We camp a lot with our daughter ourselves and also with Scouts. She's getting big and strong enough now to be able to carry her own gear without weighing us down. We can't wait to start taking her on big mileage multiday backpacking trips. I hope we can keep her interested (push back teenage angst/cool) long enough to get her to Philmont. It helps we have lots of friends with sons/daughters her age that like to camp and hike as well.

I love the sorry and the memories it brought back. I have three kid and started them out camping and canoeing. The funny part is that my girls sometimes is to complain but now they make there husbands go camping. Enjoy the time!
