Is the Paria brand Sanctuary SilTarp A Decent Cheap Option?

I'm just getting into hammock camping and am on a budget. Anyone know if the Paria brand hex tarp is a good inexpensive option? I like the 5,000 mm hydrostatic rating, and that it comes with guy lines and stakes included. But if its cheaper price means inferior quality and my hammock will get wet, I don't want to waste the money. Here's a link:

    Thanks for any input.

I don't have one, but I've heard they're pretty decent for the price. I think they're more reputable than many of the dozens or hundreds of inexpensive tarps sold on Amazon.

A 30d nylon tarp with PU coating is going to be a little heavier than a comparable sized cottage vendor tarp but it's also only 60-70% the price and it comes with stakes and guylines. The 10' guyline lengths are plenty long enough for the 4 corners, but they intend you to use the same length for the ridgeline ties and in that case 10' may or may not suffice depending on tree size and spacing.

The 11' ridgeline model is only 8' wide, which is a little narrower than what most of the cottage vendors' 11' hex tarps are. The 12' ridgeline model is 10' wide, which is the same or wider than most.

One of my favorite and most versatile tarps (among many in my gear stash) is a 10' square tarp by Aqua Quest (bought on Amazon). It's pretty heavy and bulky compared to all my others, but I don't have any complaints about it. I don't do camo, and the olive version is currently out of stock, but this is the link.

I will say that I think a reliable, quality tarp is a good investment for your hammock kit. Here are a few other options you could check into. Note the "base" prices listed are for the tarp only and do not include ridgeline, guylines, stakes, panel pulls, etc.

UGQ Penny Pincher Hanger11WB - $80 base price without stuff sack or $85 with stuff sack

Hammock Gear Quest - $100 base price for 11'

Warbonnet Mamajamba - $105 base price for 11'

    Dutchware Xenon Hex - $110 for 11'

I got the 12ft one for my secondary setup for "guests". It did perform well even in strong rainstorms and strong wind in the bavarian alps, no difference to my warbonnet tarp. Quality is exceptional for this price point. The included stakes and dyneema guy lines are also reasonable, no need to upgrade there. If budget is a concern, I see no reason why to not get one of these.

I've got one. Good quality. It has quite aggressive cat cuts, though, which especially makes the ends very skimpy if you go for the 11' one.

I have a Paria 11 foot hex tarp and am pretty satisfied with it. It is 11.4 oz with all of the stock guy lines and stakes. The guy lines are amsteel/ dyneema and the stakes are titanium. The hex cut is fairly deep and does leave some gap space for wind beneath you if not hung parallel with your hammock's ridgeline. I use a DIY zing it continuous ridgeline system to hang it and have since added Dutchware snake skins to it for easy storage. The rain fly's ridgeline length is just enough to provide some protective overlap on my 11ft Chameleon hammock. The one thing I would change about it is that I wish it had centered pullouts so that the tension on the tarp was better distributed when staked out. Other than that, I really enjoy it and have had good nights in it despite the rain or snow. Oh, and the lighter grey color is nice in the morning as it lets in a subtle amount of light.

I have the 12x10 flat cut sil-nylon. I have been using it for 3 years now a secondary tarp for shelter in camp. It has worked out well and I am very satisfied with it. I did add reflective shock cord to the tie-outs. I also like their adjustable tarp poles.
