I’m reading up on hammock camping. I haven’t done it but I want to.

Look in the forum's group hang section and go to to one near you. They're lots of fun and people who attend are generally ecstatic to talk to someone about their gear. You might even find someone willing to lend you a setup if you let them know you're new to the game.

Welcome aboard!
As it happens, there is a scheduled group hang coming up in November if you can make it... the 11th Annual Texas Fall Group Hang at Fairfield State Park.
Howdy and welcome to the trees! As noted we do have a fairly large annual hang next month. The link for info is above and in my signature line. Don't be shy with questions, we welcome folks just getting started and you wouldn't be the only one there in that category.

Howdy. Order a copy of "The Ultimate Hang 2". That has everything you want to know and then some.
Check out our very own Shug on his YouTube channel (warning...you can spend hours watching Shug entertain you while juggling and teaching hammock stuff).

I’m going to pile on here. Sounds scary to go out in the woods and meet a bunch of strangers you found on the Internet. Don’t be! This is a very welcoming bunch. Even if you only made a day trip, you could learn a great deal. This is my family’s third year going to this event. We love every minute of it. Send me a PM if I can answer any questions.
I am a member of that face book page. If I’m able to I will come to the Fall Group hang.
