    JRB and Poncho Tarps

I think I would like to try out a JRB 8 x 8 tarp. Ideally I'd like one that is already seem sealed and has the stuff sack.

I would also like to try out a silnylon poncho tarp if I can get one pretty cheap.

    Can anyone help me out?

    Thanks!!!

I'd be more inclined to try the $50 one from campmor but I guess I'm kind of skeptical about their coverage because I have read a lot of the threads on here about them, but I would still like to see for myself.

Thats why I was hoping I could get one for less than retail. I was thinking maybe a few people have tried them and decided not to use them and just have them sitting around in their gear closets.

I keep toying with the idea of a poncho tarp, but it seems like a catch 22. The time you really need a tarp is also the time you really need your poncho. If you get caught in the rain, and your poncho is being used as your tarp, there isn't any wandering off to explore. I've gone stir crazy before after being stuck in a tent for day with no rain gear. If you have rain gear, then why carry a poncho as well? If you figure this one out, let me know because I was really sold on a poncho tarp for a while.

I carry a poncho and a tarp that way I can use the poncho as a ground sheet or as wind break if I'm not using it for rain gear. I carry small grips which let me close out one end of the tarp as a set of doors. Plus a poncho is better coverage for your pack than a pack cover.

I would also be interested in a MacCat Micro on the off chance that someone has one of those they would like to let go...

JRB Poncho / shelter tarp is $52. and only 9 oz...olive color.... http://www.jacksrbetter.com/Poncho-Shelter.htm

Coverage of all poncho tarps is minimal, sorta like the eatly HH flys...Ok in low threat environments and/or in the hands of the experianced.

I, too, carry BOTH a poncho and tarp. The poncho can be used as some have said as a ground cloth if needed; I usually use it as a weather shield. It really does hold in a lot of heat from underneath.

I have one that I would let go of

I have a JRB 8' X 8' tarp for sale-never used. I bought it for $75 from somebody on this forum last August. I never even set it up. I have too many tarps. How is $70 including shipping (to lower 48)? PM me.

edit: Yes. It has the original stuffsack, and it has been seam-sealed.
