Hi from New Mexico.... Maybe West Virginia

Hi, I'm somewhat new to the forums, apparently it takes a while for your account to get validated if you're in Afghanistan.

Anyway, when I get home I live in New Mexico but will be moving to West Virginia soon and hope to do some hammock camping. I've been camping all my life but the extent of my experience with hammock camping was a couple of weeks in Louisiana for JRTC.

I'm looking forward to making a lot of my own gear and hopefully getting myself and my kids out on the trail soon

Guyfox, welcome to you and yours from Denton NC. We might cross paths, drink coffee and swap lies at group hammock hangs. I’m not into DIY, but there are many on Hammock Forums who enjoy making their own gear.
Lots of group hangs and smaller excursions in next few weeks, now that weather is getting more comfortable and with less mosquitoes...

"I once made a wrong turn in Albuquerque" - Bugs Bunny... Thank you for your service. The Sangre de Christo Mountains are a gorgeous mountain range indeed, and appear to be a great place to hammock camp in general. Are you being stationed in WV or moving there for other work. Welcome to the forums, and happy hammocking pardner.

Some pretty places to hang in WV. I have paddled the Greenbrier river and there is a great trail that follows the river. A number of folks here have extensive experience on it. Welcome and enjoy. There are lots of resources here.

I'm going to be working for the West Virginia Guard there. My brother also lives in WV so hopefully we'll get some chances to go camping.
I've not gotten the chance to do any real backpacking in NM but have done some hiking and the mountains up north are beautiful

Welcome to the Forums and to the world of hammock camping. I love NM, especially the area around LC and the Mesilla Valley. The smell of chile roasting in the fall on that desert wind. Good luck in WV when you're back!
Oooh, shiney! What does THIS button do?
