    Hammock Tent

I saw this from an ad on Instagram (it’s from Facebook)

removed link as it goes no place...Deb

It looks like due to the structure it actually gets quiet a flat lay. To me it looks like a lag similar to a bridge hammock.

It’s quiet heavy though and I’m not sure how breathable the fabrics is, as it’s designed to be a tent/bivy all-in-one.

I thought it was interesting. I searched and hadn’t seen it mentioned. What do you guys think?

Looks like a great idea just be Careful not to fall for that scam if a different person is trying to sell it etc... That hammock is currently on Kickstarter and hasn’t been released yet.

Ah thanks for the Kickstarter link.

I already have a WBBB XLC and a WBBB. They will do for now. I’ve been eyeing off a Simply Light Designs one. Or getting WBBB/XLC in single layer. But I have had other priorities and only slowly built my gear list out.

If the pad fails, I'd say a night in the hammock isn't going to happen. Here's an earlier discussion of the product:

Clearly looks to be a scam. If you found it on instagram and/or facebook, I would leave a comment that it's a scam and provide a link to the kickstarter page... and report the post if that's possible.

I dropped Derek (owner/developer) a message via FB with the bogus sales link.

So... he's aware and it's already in the works to have it taken down within the next business day. It must suck... and I didn't realize those scam sites were so prevalent. He said he's already had 20 different sites taken down.

Note that if you buy via kickstarter, the item might be available 6 months to a year later than predicted. That’s been my experience with five or six purchase. Just seems the nature of the beast. It is KickSTARTER, not KickFINISHER.

Oh man! This looks so nice! I need to be careful watching these videos. If not, I'll probably end up owning every hammock and backpacking option out there. LOL! I almost pressed purchase on the second they have up right now... but I think I'll hold out for a bit and try out what I have right now for a bit longer. I love that you can go to ground if needed, plus there seems to be so much room and storage! It's really a great design. I might just break down one day and get it.

Pippi, that hanging tent is ground luxury but remember you have most of what you need to go to ground with a hammock that has a built in bug net. That “tent” still needs supports so you would have your hiking poles. That tent requires a pad for structure so you would have a sleeping pad. That tent also requires a tarp so you would have a tarp. To go to ground with your hammock you just lay some ground sheet down (plastic, Tyvek, or whatever you normally use as a ground sheet, put your pad/hammock on that. Use your hiking poles to hold up your tarp and the hammocks bugnet (keeps it off your face). You’ll have to guy off the hiking poles because they are not trees; but it works. I apologize if this is “mansplaining” but some people don’t think about using their hammock on the ground. It’s not ideal, but it is possible.
