I can't be the only one that would buy a DCF tarp from Warbonnet. Does anyone know if Warbonnet has ever touched on this subject? I tried the advanced search but didn't get any results.

At one time, they made tarps out of Spinntex.
I remember hearing about that. I think that was before my hammock days. Is that similar to DCF?
It was a middle ground between Cuben and silnylon in those days. I believe it was 0.7 - 0.97 oz/sq yd which is a little heavier than Cuben but lighter than silnylon while being more waterproof and less prone to stretching. It was a polyester spinnaker fabric for sailboats. I believe the waterproof versions stopped being produced, which is probably why you don't hear about it anymore.
I believe there would be a nice sized niche for them if they would product the Super/Mtn/Thunder/Mini Flys in DCF. Especially the Minifly as it would offer more protection over the HG/Dutch hex offerings at a only a tiny weight premium.
At one time, there was respect among cottage vendors for those who had carved out a niche. For example, HG entered the DCF Dyneema market many years ago and other vendors respected that they had carved out that niche. However, now Dutch makes DCF tarps in direct competition with HG. About the only DCF product that Dutch doesn't compete with HG is the Winter Palace, though I expect Dutch will soon compete there as well.
Will Warbonnet ever compete directly against HG and Dutch in the DCF market? Well, Dutch used to own the titanium doohickey market, but now Warbonnet also competes there with Tarp Ticks and Fish Hooks. We shall see how the market goes.

I wish all the vendors sold DCF tarps in hopes that competition would drive these high prices down
Unfortunately the competition needed is in the manufacture of the fabric. However, it looks like the patent was filed in December of 2004 so I would not expect any opening of competition until 2025 at the earliest. This assumes DSM does not have other related patents on DCF..
