    Lightbulb Speed Tips

When i get into camp late after a hard day on the trail, i don't want to fuss with hammock deployment and camp chores. I want to iron out a process to get my hammock up and down as fast as possible. That means:

    • The fastest unpacking.
    • The fastest suspension.
    • The fastest accessorizing (quilts and tarps).
    • The fastest re-packing.

    Let's brainstorm.

    What are your suggestions?

SLD catch-all sack would speed things up. https://simplylightdesigns.com/colle...catch-all-sack

I'd also recommend a mesh snake-skin for tarp management.

As for suspension, there are many fast options. I personally prefer a simple becket hitch connection. It's fast, and once you do it enough, you won't have to make a ton of miro-adjustments.

Know your system in and out. Don't upgrade every year, experience will make you faster along with repeated methods. I keep my tarp on the outside of my pack, up with stingerz, taunt line hitch with a bight on the guy outs so throw that up first quickly to gauge tree width, keep in snakes skins or deploy depending on weather. Hammock, quilts, clothing all in the same dry bag smooshed. Hammock up on a beckett hitch bam. Quilt clipped on, pre adjusted from previous use, or yard test if first time with quilt. (Obviously Wookie use wins in this case, nothing is simpler or faster save a bridge underquilt) Clip the dry bag onto the end of my suspension if not using top quilt / clothing yet or want to hang in the hammock, otherwise just toss it in and disperse clothing into gear lofts etc. Then pack up simply reverse order. Backpack / portage pack with food, cook gear, and possibles either goes with me to the fire pit or if hanging under the tarp / bush camping it's obviously just already there.

    Camp more and practice more.
Make sure you can get the tarp up quickly for those wet days.

I like Dream Hammock's, Sleeve sack. It is the combination of the catch-all and a Bishop Bag.
