    Just grabbed a DCF palace

I'm excited to use this tarp on my upcoming hike. After reading the forums a bit, now I'm concerned about the doors not closing ( never had that issue with my superfly ) and potentially leaking at the top like another user posted about.

Don't worry about it. There's lots of variables regarding weather and setup conditions that can affect the outcome.

I've got a 11 foot HG standard with doors and have never had an issue getting wet.

I've had my Winter Palace about seven years now, and that post about "I can't close my doors" is the first time I"ve ever heard anyone have that problem. Then again, I've never tried to close the doors all the way on any tarp - air flow is essential for whatever tarp I'm using.

As for the leaking at the top, that will happen if there is a leak in the used tarp he bought. I've never had a leak anywhere in my Winter Palace, but I bought new.

I learned that the hard way when I had the great idea to "block 100% of that cold wind with a big tarp". To gain a theoretical 5° of warmth, I added buckets of condensation to EVERYTHING under the tarp. There was no chance of staying another night.

Don't worry too much about things before they happen. Pitch the tarp steep enough and pull them in straight across (like in my photo of my Winter tarp below 11' ridgeline by and not as wide as the Palace) I am sure you will be able to close the doors.
My Cuben DCF tarps have never leaked. I just spent time with Stormcrow the owner of HG and we spoke of the tarp you speak of. Pretty sure that will never happen again.

Yeah, during a snowstorm I got the bright idea to batten down my Winter Palace with doors closed and hung real low to keep out all the snow that was blowing. I even piled up snow along the bottom edges of the tarp to seal off any wind and snow from coming in. I had a tiny half-inch break in one end - and I'll be darned if every snowflake within a half-mile radius decided to enter through that tiny opening. I woke up to find my top quilt covered in 4 inches of snow. And I don't even want to talk about the condensation!
