Western PA - What yinz got over there?

I'm talking extreme western PA, so Allegheny National Forest is pretty much what I see.

Is this any good for backpacking for 2-3 days? Or more of a car camping/hunting spot? I need to check out something new and this is just under 6hr drive which is fine. If the NCT section is any good, that may be an option.

    Anything else I'm missing?

There are others on here that have hammock camped in Allegheny National Forest. I have always wanted to but haven't had the time to go there yet. Its quite a long drive for me (Metro DC area). Lots of trees to hang from. It appears it would be good for hiking and/or car camping...not sure how well the trails are marked, or if land navigation skills would be of value there, unless you use GPS when you hike.

One of my favorite place in ANF is Minister Creek. There is a small pay for camping spot with privy but there is free camping right across the street and all over. There are hiking options.
If you are doing the NCT McConnells Mills State Park is beautiful.

I'm from Western NY and hit up Allegheny National forest several times a year. There's a ton of trails to backpack over several days. Minister Creek is a great loop (do it counter clockwise); Tracy Ridge area has over 30 miiles of hiking; Morrison andri rock loop area; tanbark trail; hickory Creek wilderness (I think this loop is kinda boring) the north Country Trail just to name a few. There is also Oil Creek state park you could check out.

I second Minister Creek. Great spot there and plenty of places to hang. Hiking wise in ANF I've only done around Tracy Ridge. Easy hikes and you can change up the loops to make them longer or shorter. There are some nice sites right on the reservoir there although I'm pre

The North country trail. The Baker trail. The Tanbark trail. Hickory Creek wilderness area. Oil Creek trail.
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.

Oh yeah! Lots of good pizza places too. Pizza as in "real pizza" from a hole-in-the-wall shop. Police Station Pizza in Ambridge...the best!

how far east are you willing to go? There's also Allegheny Front loop but thats more Central PA, Laurel Highlands trail, ANF is best option if you are looking to hunt.
