Grayson Highlands Fall Festival; Sept, 2019

Another great group hang and Hammock Demo at the Grayson Highlands Fall Festival!
I believe our group count was around 34, including some happy and well mannered kids.
    Someone else will confirm.

I didn't get any pics or videos but some of the others did.

    No rain!!!... almost.
Got a short shower and a few sprinkles, along with some lightening and thunder.

Unfortunately, because of the dry conditions, a fire ban was put into effect Fri afternoon.
That was a disappointment but we certainly understood and still had a great time sitting around talking at night with various sources of light.

    The Fall Festival was fun.
We used a new and better spot for the Hammock Camping Demonstration.
I think we had at least 8 hammocks set up so our visitors could see various types, try them out and ask questions.
And we had quite a few people stop in at the Demo. More that any Demo before I think.

After the Festival on Sat, we had a group meal with more delicious food than we could even think about eating!
After that, we had a fun time at the raffle, held in the pavilion, were we raised $350 that will go the GHSP through the Friends Of Grayson Highlands State Park.

I saw old friends and met new ones.
    Great group!
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Thanks to all who came and enjoyed the weekend with a great group. I know the kids had a great time. For a change we had cooler weather and no rain, just the occasional sprinkle. Many kudos to Hickery and Slowhike for wrestling Son of Blue up into the trees. Best demo we have had at any festival hang, also due to those two finding a new spot for the demo. We appreciated all the cooks and folks who pitched in for the meals. TOO MUCH food. I'm still stuffed.

What a great hang ! Best weather I remember. Just a little too dry for campfires.Slowhike & myself were the only 2 hangers left on Sunday night. We kept Son of Blue illuminated with the sharpness of our minds as we tried to solve world problems without the rest of the group. We gave up and had a good night's sleep. Got out of the Park around 10:30. It's always good to make new friends and see folks from past events. The Mt Rogers Winter Hang will be January 23-26. The new hammock display area at the festival was right on ! Thanks to all you youngsters for making the raffle entertaining and helping to raise $350.00 for the Friends of Grayson Highlands State Park.

Hated to miss this hang but got the January hang on the calendar "in ink". I am already thinking about the group supper for Saturday night. I think I will do a big bunch of BBQ (10-12 lbs.) ahead of time and bring it. I'll also bring some of the best hot sauce in the world made right here in West TN. Of course my wife will make us some chocolate cover pretzels and those oatmeal raisin cookies too! See y'all in January.
It ain't always about hammer'n out the miles....Sometimes it's about just 'hanging out"!
