Question New-New Eddie Bauer Packable Throw (non-down) on sale at Costco

I went to Costco today and found the new replacements for the Double Black Diamond Down Throws. It's an Eddie Bauer branded 60"x70" blanket. It's a little less than 200g heavier than the DBD (w/o bags) and won't fit into the smaller stuff sack of the DBD. Oh, and it's on sale for only $12.99.

I just got it washed and dried, so I can't yet attest to the warmth and I can't find any information on the R-value. It says it is "Primaloft Black Series" insulation on the Costco site, but I can't find what that equate to anywhere. I found an older reference that compared it to a 550-fill Power Down.

Anyone tried one of these out for a DIY or just top insulation yet? How's it do and what temp did you take it down to? It's the first I've seen of them in the store.

I bought one today (9/26/19) and just got the one because I was thinking it was down filled and my wife is allergic to down.

I'm thinking about getting a couple more to do a double under quilt and a top quilt.

I'll be following this thread to see others comments.
How do you prefer to hang? A short drop from a long rope or a long drop from a short rope?

Bought a couple (at full price $16.99) a few weeks ago and they were... OK. Definitely not as good as the CDTs. Sons have used but I haven't yet. Since one of my two CDTs had to be thrown away (possible poison ivy exposure) I was looking to replace. Definitely doesn't pack down as small as the CDT, and felt a lot different. But will probably work for me. Enough that I may buy a couple, especially at $12.99 (and since my sons have confiscated the others!)

By the way, are these CPT, to contrast to CDT (Permaloft vs Down)?

Yes. They are Primaloft Black. No feathers were harmed in the making of this blanket.

I got it washed and have been using it just around the house (since it is apparently never going to cool off). It's not as packable or light as the down, which I know is a big thing for some. I find it more comfortable and probably not *quite* as warm as the DBD down blankets from Costco. I think I will grab a second this week if they are still on sale.

The replacement for Costco's Black Diamond down throws is actually the Blue Ridge ACTIV™ packable down throw. looks to be similar specs to the previous brand.

Yeah, I was disappointed to see that they don't seem to have the packable down throws any more.

Cool. Those haven't shown up here yet. These are as close as anything my Costco has so far.

I picked up a couple today 9-29-19 in hopes of using them for the diy underquilt. If anyone has info on a possible temp rating that would be helpful. I'm hoping they are good for 50 ish degree underquilts.

I think that 40-50* seems about right for these. Let's see 'em when you get one done.

I went back today to grab another one, but they were already back to the regular price ($17 each). I figured I can wait until the next sale and keep testing the one I got.
