Seriously, especially after hiking through the carwash the day before! I planned my entire trip around being on Sunday River Whitecap in that amazing weather. That peak is my favorite one in New England for foliage.

How's cell service on this loop? My wife worries too much and it would be nice not to have to lug a PLB.

Spotty but there was some. I had good signal on Sunday River Whitecap at the very top, and mostly good signal at Sargent Brook campsite. At the ledges on Puzzle it was weak, enough to text but probably not call, and none at Stewart and Lane campsites. Lightning Ledge was good. None on Speck or Baldpate for me. I told my contact not to expect to hear from me so there was no expectation, but it was nice to send periodic progress reports when I could.

Haha right around 11,000 ft of uppity-downity.

When we did it I think our pack weights were around 17lb starting out, which made things easier.
