Tracy Ridge is awesome. Both the NFS campground and the backcountry camping. It's one of my favorite spots. It's always about 4-5 degrees cooler than Bradford, the closest "city". It's very dark and very quiet at night.

What is the terrain like, what is difficulty of the trail compared to other local areas?

Adapted a caltopo map of the Minister Creek area.

Looks like a decent 3 day trip. Getting stuff together now!

I managed to get a quick trip in to RRG this past Saturday and Sunday. I hiked the Swift Camp Creek trail to the Rock bridge then back tracked to a pretty nice stream side camp. I hit the trail early trying to avoid a storm but got caught anyway. Nice! Did you ever get back to that trail we took in Shawnee? Did it recover from the bulldozing?

Better walking conditions now but still unappetizing. They just opened a new section of the Buckeye trail down here . I think it’s 16 miles long with a backcountry camp site. Maybe we can hike it this fall.

Sounds fun. But I just got back from Minister Creek, and it handed me my ***! But doesn't kill you...

Diz and I made the trip to Minister Creek in the Allegheny NF this week. Two nights and a brutal(for me!) trail. Didn't find a good campsite the first night so we just hung off the trail. Probably the quietest night I ever had in the woods. Second night we made it to the Overlook campsite (not marked on any maps, but nice open site with a lot of trees. Diz can address the overlook...I was too tired to even walk out there!

Looking at hitting the AEP ground for the first time either this weekend or next. According to their site "Miners’ Memorial Park and some camping areas will be closed October through April.
Wood Grove Campground “H” and Maple Grove Campground “G” will be open year-round"

Does anyone know how to check for sure which sites are actually open? Also, which site would be best for hammocks?

I am thinking of returning to RRG sometime this week Wednesday oct 23 thru Saturday and trying to hike some of the trails that I haven’t done so far . Is anyone else looking to do a trip or something possibly somewhere else? I’m also looking at the Pine Mountain scenic trail also.
