    DCF Winter Tarp w/ Doors

I am pleased to see the website photo of the DCF Winter Tarp w/ Doors shows the doors overlapped when closed flush. Although it does look like a steeper than normal pitch, there is plenty of overlap.

If the doors can REALLY be overlapped this much I am more than intrigued..

Does anyone have one to confirm? How does the door configuration compare to the HG Palace?

edit.. I was quite excited to see this and then noticed it is an 8'6" width.. That's a showstopper.

Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

IIRC, that's the same width as the HG standard tarps. I have the hex that is the same width and I would hardly consider a tarp that wide to be a "Winter" tarp-even here in GA. It's a great tarp for most weather I camp in, but for windy/rainy winter weather, I want a tarp closer to ten feet wide like a Palace or Super/Mountainfly.

Thanks.. I agree with the size bring the same as the Standard. I have a standard with doors and a Palace. The Palace doors don't overlap..

why overlap? I never overlap, it doesn't actually seem to help anything... doesn't keep wind, snow, or rain any less "out". in fact it helps direct the wind and snow UNDER your tarp instead of AROUND.

Posted below is a photo of my hang after a snow storm, so people can clearly see that the entire footprint under my tarp is clear of snow because I close my doors out to a point, rather than overlapping. granted my current tarps are designed to close this way, but my first tarp with doors, a WL Bullfrog, wasn't, and that's when I learned it's better to close a tarp like this. you end up with more room next to the hammock if the tarp is DESIGNED to close at the edge but you still end up with less snow underfoot by closing out to a point either way. and yeah, if there's no snaps or Velcro at the edge, a tiny bit of snow will dust into the interior, but that happens anyway around all of the edges
